50) City Of Orlando, Fl 2015 – On Feeding The Homeless

In 2012 it is estimated that there were over 630,000 homeless people in the US.  According to the FL Coalition For the Homeless, there are about 85,000 homeless in the State.

In case you don’t know, it is against the law in the City Of Orlando to feed the homeless.  The law was prompted by complaints from citizens and businesses around Lake Eola. Washing of clothes in the lake and taking shower at the public restrooms in Orlando are likewise illegal.

    1. Every law is meant to correct a social problem. Every solution brings in both the intended and unintended consequences. Yes, it is sad. The city allows group feeding subject to acquisition of prior permit. Poverty in the USA is unfortunately a fact of life. We must find a better way to address it. There is so much room for improvement.
