Key West is the southernmost island of the US and used to be the richest city of Florida. A number of US presidents have visited the island including Harry Truman, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F Kennedy and Jimmy Carter. Ernest Hemingway, a famous novelist, loved the island and has a house there. It is closer to Cuba (90 miles away) than to Miami, Fl. Our family visited the island only once and here is a remembrance of said visit.
